    Shadow Object for HWA?

I've bought the december 2009 issue of Klikdisc and installed the Shadow Object. It's a very nice addition to my extensions but... it simply doesn't work in HWA Direct3D 9, and I'm developing in that mode only since I need various effects.
That object calculates shadows in runtime, skewing and blending them based on the lightsource (i.e. shadow object itself) position.
I've searched the forum for alternative methods, but none seems to match the shadow object in terms of ease of use and performance. I like Looki's shader, but my player character already has other shaders applied during the game (for tint and lightness).

Could it be possible to convert the Shadow Object for HWA?

Is there an alternative method we can set up for an *ultimate* HWA shadow system?

    thanks

Hi. They might be able to convert it if the source is available.

    Re: Shadow Object for HWA?

Daniel Rehn's the name of the author, but what's his nickname here?

In the meantime, I'm trying so set up something of my own: duplicates of the active objects created on a lower layer set to "Simple Mask" 0,0,0, alpha 167, and now I'm trying to figure out how to skew them...
But certainly I'm not that professional developer! Any help is appreciated. I still have much to learn.

    Re: Shadow Object for HWA?

Thank you, let's see if he plans a HWA version of the shadow object.
In case the object will remain unusable in HWA, I'm experimenting with manual skewing, using the Tilt HV shader by Sphax, but I'm not quite sure it's standard skewing, it creates a strange offset that prevents shadows to start from the character's feet (though position is 0,0 and the hotspots overlap).

    Good Luck with that.

Daniel practically doesn't exist anymore. I couldn't reach him by PM or his email and neither could Yves.

Last I heard he was moving into a new apartment and he had all his source files on a backup hard drive that was still packed away.

Well, since there is no SDK anyway, there's not a good chance he'd port it anyway.

    Re: Shadow Object for HWA?

I was doing a Shadow example myself, but got stuck because I don't knwo what offset is, and can't find any examples here....

So my shadow only works for cubes.

Is it now possible to make this extension compatible with Direct 3D?
