Combining Mode 7 EX+360° Object for Third Person?

I'm fooling around with one of several little mini segments in a game I'm doing, hoping to do some sort of silly on-foot third person/Mario Kart style hybrid using Mode 7 EX... I figured it'd of been out of my leauge to get a decent top down movement that applied well to the Mode 7 EX object and yet wasn't too complicated for a short segment, but I noticed the 360° Movement Object recently...

A quick test I did(with cheap filler visuals)...

It seems like I'm actually pretty close to linking up the Mode 7 effect with the actual frame underneath, except that the "camera" seems kinda jerky, and whenever the object is stopped it acts up, which I've tried to cover up... It's also quite obviously not actually "third person" yet.

Anyone here have any ideas on how to get this idea fully working without it going overboard? I'm pretty sure I could manage the actual sprite mapping and such, I've done so once before but mapping the camera to a decent moving object was always a problem before...

    Thanks!

Re: Combining Mode 7 EX+360° Object for Third Person?

I am playing with Mode 7 Ex also, and (after a few months of experimentation) have had some small success with getting the Mode 7 surface to follow an active object... however with this setup anything I have sprite-mapped to the Mode 7 field starts jumping around like a possessed flea when the camera rotates. Right now I am in the process of working out a new movement that simply modifies the basic Mode 7 controls (walk forward, strafe left, and so on). The display of the sprite-mapped objects seems a lot better if I stick to these movement events, and just have the position of the player follow the Mode 7 origin. Now if I could only figure out why my sprites are floating in the sky when I rotate the camera 180 degrees away from them! Well anyway I wish you the best of luck with your game--Cheers!
