    How to do Night Effect?

    Ok so, I want night in my game.

    Something similar to those:

    I just dunno how to start

    I even though on creating a big black active and setting transparency to it, but, the light would get dark too.

    I can inflict light into my character, but what I can't do here, is how to inflict light while theres darnkess too in the area, how to work with both.

    ---

    Almost forgot... if I have a fireball and inflicts light onto my character, how to make that, I can only see this light over the character? the way things are now, the "light" of the fireball is always visible, I want to show only the the light only when it colides, and only the pixels that are coliding.

    It's easy with MMF HWA. Create a new layer above the normal one, and give it the multiply effect. Put lights in this layer, and give them the add effect. Done

    But just in case I am working with flash and cannot use HWA... any tips?

    But this info is helpful anyway, I had no idea.

    Unfortunately MMF-flash doesn't support ink effects, so you couldn't do it for real.

    You can do multiply effects in Flash using transparency effects in Photoshop, then export to .png (google how to export to .png in photoshop), then importing into the active object picture editor.

    It's a long way around but you can duplicate effects almost identically and get your awesome glowing effects.

    For example, try importing this .png into Multimedia Fusion. This simulates the subtract effect.



    Also you may get away with a very dark blue active object the size of your play area with transparency set to about 80%. This will make things considerably darker without being overpowering. Even in the IGN picture, the play area is a bit darker than normal to give the impression of night. You can fade between 100% and 80% in the event editor to simulate a day/night transition. Transparency still works in flash.

    My Flash Fx extension will be able to apply effects to objects, layers and frames. Unfortunately it will not be released within the next weeks, I'm afraid..

    Thanks a lot people!

    Actualy I still don't own flash exporter but I will be buyng it soon, meanwhile I am programing with Flash in mind.

    But Knowing that FLash Ex will be release is something very good.
