Problem with array loading/saving with INI++

    Hello all.
I am trying to use the excellent extension INI++ to load the values from an array into the INI file but I get an error when I run the application:

Error: The Array object you have selected for use with either the 'Load from Array' or 'Save to Array' action does not exist (or is not a valid array object). The action will fail.

I can save the Global Values just fine and I have named the Array correctly when prompted by INI++. Does anyone have any pointers please as to what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks,
    Tim.

Array object can only load .arr files, not ini files.

This is the INI++ object I am using to load/save values to the array, not the Array object (if I haven't got the wrong end of the stick?!)

Re: Problem with array loading/saving with INI++

The INI++ object only loads CSV (Comma-separated values) arrays, not the ones used by the Associated Array Object (default Array) in MMF2. The MMF2 array saves its files in a roughly compressed bytestream- the INI++ CSV format is simply a text file with characters looking like this:

    1,2,3,4
    5,6,7,8

    etc

Fortunately, the eliminating for the need to convert the array format into a text file, the array object already has the capability to save and load its data to/from files. I imagine whatever usage you are planning could be accomplished by just putting a .arr file next to your .ini file. Also, keep in mind that the extension does not impact the data and both the INI and Array object can load your .arr files even if you saved them under a different file extension (ie .sav to represent a save file)

Ah shame, I was hoping to be able to load/save from/to the array from the INI++ object. Does the Array object have a way of setting a path to the user's APPDATA folder like the INI++ object?

In the expression editor, use a File Object to find the application data directory. The expression is:

    AppDataDirectory$( "File" )

You can load/save to that directory with the array object, modifying that string to specify where in the folder and so on.

The Ini++ array functions are so you can load an array into an Array object, and then put that data into the Ini++ object. So Ini++ can load from array objects indirectly.
