    Problem installing onto Windows 7

Jeff has reset the activiation key for me (and very quickly too, thanks!), but after I install the SWF Exporter, MMF2 will no longer work.

When I launch MMF2 prior to installing SWF exporter, MMF2 works perfectly. However, after I install the SWF exporter, the MMF2 splash screen is shown, but then disappears after a couple of seconds. I can also see MMF2.exe appearing and immediately disappearing in the task manager (no error messages are being shown). The installation exe for the SWF Exporter that I am using is the one that was linked to in the email with our original order confirmation.

I am installing on Windows 7 Enterprise and using build 247 of MMF2 (msi provided by our ICT Technicians); could this be the problem?

I have tried to install the latest MMF2 update prior to installing the SWF exporter, but it is asking me for the installation CD, before I can progress. I have asked our ICT Technicians for the CD (we have a school licence) but, well, I could be waiting some time (assuming that they have it at all)!

I have also tried installing MMF2 (build 247) and then installing the SWF Exporter installer that Yves has packaged with build 251 of MMF2, but I get the same problem. The splash screen appears momentarily (I can see it is build 251) and then it disappears.

Of course, as I am trying to get it working, I am using up an activation key count, so I may need to ask for a reset again as I am uninstalling prior to each installation attempt!

I have tried this on two entirely different Windows 7 PCs; one is a laptop running enterprise, and the other is a desktop running Ultimate.

Is there something I have missed relating to Windows 7 or installations, or is there any more information I can provide to get it working?

Do you run it as Administrator?

Yes, I have tried that, thanks.

I have also tried to run it in Win XP compatibility mode.

Hmm... this problem was happening with the build 249 if you don't install MMF2 to the default drive (that contains the Program Files directory), but as far as I know it shouldn't happen with the build 251.

I'm going to double check, I'll let you know.

PS: you don't use your activation key count if you install it on the same drive.

Hmm, I confirm that works fine with the build 251... I've installed MMF2 to a different drive, tested it, and then installed the build 251 of the SWF exporter and tested it, it worked fine.

    Have you tried to :

    1. Reinstall MMF2, check it works fine.
    2. Directly install the build 251 of the SWF exporter provided in this forum.

We also provide schools with MSI files that install both MMF2 and the SWF exporter with a single serial. Maybe you would prefer that. The one for the build 251 is not yet ready, maybe later today or tomorrow.

    Thanks for the response, Yves.

Just to confirm, I am installing it to the default drive (C: in this case) as a "Complete" installation with no changes to the defaults.

That makes sense. I have tried to install it on two different PCs.

I'll send you a MSI for the build 251 when it's ready and uploaded. Could you send me your MMF2 and SWF serials by PM? I'll send you another serial with the MSI.

Thanks, Yves; I'll get the serials to you ASAP.

Re: Problem installing onto Windows 7

Just so this thread isn't left 'hanging', I can advise that Yves resolved the problem on the same day. From my initial post to these boards at about 10:20 am, the problem was fully resolved and tested on my PC by 7pm the same evening. This included Yves getting my serial numbers, building a new MSI installer and uploading it, and providing alternative solutions for me to try in the meantime.

Also thanks to Jeff (and anyone else who was involved) for resetting my installation activation count so quickly.

I would like to thank Clickteam for their fantastic customer service ethic.

I have been working in IT for over 20 years, and it is rare to receive such a rapid response and a resolution to a single user's problem in such a short time.

    Thanks again,
    Digitalic
