    Adding Animations in Platform Movement Object

    Whoo, this one's got me wracking my brain.

    I'm using the Platform Movement Object, and I'm making a game that uses more than just jumping and walking. There are four attacks in the game, each with an animation. Pressing the X key for example should go through with the animation. But it doesn't play, and I sort of have an idea why, but I can't figure out how. It looks like it's trying to play - it quickly flashes the first frame of the animation.


    It's probably something to do with part 15.

    I guess I should note that the "X" key is not one of the default joystick buttons - I set the event via the "press a key" function (as seen there). I can change it so that X is a default joystick button if needed.

    you need to "protect" your attack animations from getting replaced by standing, walking, jumping etc.

    what I do is have a variable called "stuck in move", which is usually set to zero, but when I trigger an attack animation,(or getting hit etc) then I set the "stuck in move" variable to 1.

    then in all your events that set the animation to stopped, walking, falling, etc, have >>Variable "stuck in move" =0

    lastly, whenever one of those attach animations is finished, I set "stuck in move" back to 0.

    I got it figured out by doing this:

    I added in those and the animations worked. I considered doing what you said while waiting for a post but couldn't quite figure it out. I may resort to your tactic if this one doesn't do the trick.

    I have another problem, though - I can only get the animations to play when standing still. I can't get the animations to play while jumping or walking.

    Order of events. Move the attack animations to the bottom of the list.
