Blur the background with menu overlayed?

Is there and Flash-compatible extension that can produce an overlay that blurs the background (including active objects behind it).

I want to overlay a menu onto the blurred background of my game, then bring the game into focus when the player pushes start.

I know Flash FX has an 'Apply Blur' function, but I have no idea how it works.

    Hi,

Flash Fx's filter functionality is a bit complicated.

Each object can have multiple filters, ordered by index (0-based).
When you use the "Add blur" action, a blur filter will be added to a temporary storage.
This temporary storage can be loaded and saved to an object.

    It looks something like this:

    Select object [Active]
    Add blur filter
    Write filters to selection

    Later, you could do this:

    Load filters from selection
    Add bevel filter
    Write filters to selection

Which would first load the filters from the object, then add a bevel, and then re-save them.

Each filter has default parameters that can be changed by pushing them before adding the filter.

    For example:

    Push "blurX" with 100
    Add blur filter

Would use the default Y radius (blurY) and quality, but the X radius is set to 100.

    I made a simple example here: http://mfa.aquadasoft.com/view/1297172479-Example
Make sure you have the latest FlashFx version.
