Making a 2D Fighter

Hi everyone. A friend of mine and I wanna make a 2D fighter - like Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom, for example - just for fun with MMF2.
Now, I'm no MMF2 expert, but I know the basics.

I was wondering if anyone had any pointers on how to make this kind of game as I have no experience with it.

For example, how to switch the animations from standing to walking when pressing left or right, or how to jump, how to attack and do damage when one character hits another, etc.

Or, if you don't know exactly, does anyone know of any good tutorials for how to make a nice 2D fighter in MMF2?

Platform movement tutorials will get you started. I don't think there are any specific 2D fighter tutorials, but platform tutorials will cover moving left/right, scrolling, and jumping.
