    [Beta] A* FlashString


    Description:
    Here my new Pathfinding-Extension for Flash. You get the full path as a string.

    Example-String:

    [color:#3366FF]1-1[/color]#[color:#3366FF]1-2[/color]#[color:#3366FF]1-3[/color]#[color:#3366FF]1-4[/color]

    Split the string with String Tokenizer or String Parser. See the Example-File for more informations.

    Interesting extension, thanks

    Could you explain the string format a bit more if possible. Would i be right in guessing it is tile based so 1-1#1-2#1-3#1-4 means they are all the first tile on X and then going down a tile each on Y?

    Awesome. I've been waiting for flash pathfinding.

    Atom: Yes it is a tile format. Your guess is correct.

    X-Y# is the x/y coordinates of the node along the shortest path. If you watch the example, the ball moves along the string coordinates in reverse order (the destination is the first coordinate in the string).

    X - X Coordinate
    X - Y Coordinate
    # - array delimiter

    Just started playing with the extension and I think I've found a bug.

    If I path once, that's just fine. But when I path again, the path is appended to the end of the last path, so the string returned is the old path + new path. Path again, and I get the two previous paths + new path, etcetera.

    Here's the mfa, and here's an uploaded example that shows the problem. Click on a tile, it finds the path from 0,0 to the tile you clicked on.

    Would love to get a fix for this!

    If anyone wants a hack-fix whilst Pharanygitis fixes this, use two Strings, a FullPath and a RealPath, and a counter/global value to keep track of where the real path should start in the fullpath. Then:



    I'm sure a real fix will come soon, it's just clearing the String every time the AStar function is called, right?
