    Include External Files

I created a MMF2 application. It has two pictures (both jpegs) located in the pictures folders. The pictures are part of a logo and I use active picture objects to display them. So I am creating an animated logo. One picture spins over the other one.

I felt that if I set the MMF2 application properties to "include external files" and then build a standalone application everything would be in a single .exe. So I emailed the .exe to my self and opened it on a different computer.

The application runs but I just get the white frame and no pictures displaying. What am I doing wrong?

How are you calling the included files for display?

    Re: Include External Files

I started a new project. Then I resized the application and frame to the size I needed. Then I added the first active picture object. Then I added a second active picture object. The pictures are the same size as the frame. I added the animation to one of the active picture objects and ran the application. Everything looked good.

So I then switched to the application properties and said to include external files. During the build it warned me the pictures were not in a subdirectory of the application but I didn't care since I believed they would be included in the .exe.

Does that help? When I added the active picture objects they asked for the picture I wanted so I selected them from the pictures folder. So in the settings the FILENAME is C:\...\name of picture.jpg of the active picture object.

    Re: Include External Files

I would go into your data elements editor

    Add the external files there

DO NOT load any files in the properties of the active picture

In the event editor use APPPATH$+"filename.jpg"

This works here for me -- I think if you try to load a file in the properties its going to cause problems with or without the files being added.

    Re: Include External Files

You can very well specify the filenames in the properties of the APO. The only things you have to do is :

    1. The external files used by your application must be in the directory of the MFA or in sub-directories.

    2. When you build your application, build it to the same directory as the MFA.

If you follow these rules, the filenames will be always re-located to the directory from where the application is executed.

    Re: Include External Files

After getting the standalone app to work correctly I went in and changed to a java applet. Did a build. It displays on the webpage but I am back to my original problem. I only see one of the pictures. Any suggestions?

    Re: Include External Files

Never mind. I found that in changing the type of appl in MMF2 then MMF2 unchecked the "include external files" I rechecked it and rebuilt the jar applet.

However now I am getting a message from NetObjects Fusion 12 that the jar file in not valid.

Unsure if the error is with NetObjects Fusion or MMF2. I assume NetObjects Fusion.

    Re: Include External Files

I was able to get the logo to work using Vitalize.

However, changing the type of application should not uncheck the include files parameter.

Not able to get the Java option to work. App does not display correctly even just using the MMF2 generated webpage from the build. Displays correctly in MMF2, displays correctly when .exe is generated, but not when java applet is generated by Build command and viewed with MMF2 generated webpage.
