    Building an MMO with Lacewing

    i started making a platform based MMO with lacewing a few months ago, and i never really thought about whether or not it was really feasible to even attempt to do that. Would using lacewing be an effective method of creating an MMO with MMF? It seems to be working well so far, but i always wonder how many players will i be able to support, whats the limit of using it? etc.

    MMF itself is more likely to limit you. Lacewing is powerful.

    We'll Need the MFA to be sure whats causing the slow down, try uploading it to the file archive.

    Some Common lag causes;

    *Rotating or scaling lots of objects often (only applies to non HWA)
    *Calling fast-loops many times each frame-draw
    *Very large Images in objects which there are lots of.

    First let me say; this game is very impressive.

    With 400 Events it might take a while to locate the Bottleneck; Ill reply here when i find something...

    Keep it up; i really want to play this game

    I plan on it, and thank you for saying that its impressive. As for the "bottle neck" when you say that are you referring to the point in which data transfer is being slowed or compressed? if so ill try to find it as well.

    I think he means trying to find a single thing that would make it run slowly.

    would simply increasing the number of objects a frame can have increase the speed at all?

    Re: Building an MMO with Lacewing

    Nope, just add the potential for it to go slower. The more object you have the slower it will go, especially if those objects have complex events. Worse still if you use fast-loops, even worse still if you use "spread-value + fast-loops + compare", it's one of the slowest things you can do.

    Also keep in mind that Windows Controls like List, Edit box, and so on are disproportionally very slow.
