Im trying to make a sound effect happen whenever a event happens,but whenever i look in the samples i have, and try to use them it says uknown format,so the question is does anyone know where i can get sound effects that are the correct format.

You can use Audacity to convert them to .ogg

what are the file types? MMF2 can use wav, ogg, midi, and I think mod files. If you can open them in something like audacity (free open source) you can save them as the correct format then import.
