    Lacewing for Java

    Hello everyone!

Will it ever be possible to code a Lacewing server using Java? Just like Python C++.

    Thanks guys.

    Re: Lacewing for Java

No. You should give Python a shot, it's lovely

To elaborate a bit - The "offical" languages of Lacewing are Python and C++, in which the protocol specifications are first implemented. I implement Lacewing in other languages (eg AS3) out of necessity (we needed Lacewing for the Flash runtime).

Implementing a Lacewing server in Java wouldn't be useful at all - Python being cross platform, very fast, and far nicer to work with means a Java server wouldn't have any practical use other than writing in a different language.

Come the next protocol revision, the specification (along with the source code of all libraries) will be public, so whoever wants to roll their own Java implementation will be able and welcome to.

Aww, that is a real shame, I really, really like Java :-/

Yes I will agree, Python is good, but I just prefer Java.

Way to go. That's telling them Stephen. I wanted to say that, but didn't have a diplomatic way to say it.

    Re: Lacewing for Java

If all the programmers hate Java, it's disappointing that the majority of MMF2 exporters have "Java" in their names.
    Java Sub-Application
    Stand-alone Java Application
    Stand-alone Java Applet
    Stand-alone Java Web Start
    Stand-alone Java for Mobile Devices
    Stand-alone Java for Blackberry
    Stand-alone Mac Application (Java)

I see why people are asking for Lacewing for Java - as no server is being made, I assume no Lacewing Java client is going to be made either?
