    Re: Ban and kick features?

The only tool regular members will have is guns, and they can report the person to an admin/moderator. There will be few admins, and one Main Admin (me), anyone will have a report feature. like an admin or mod can report another admin or mod. but mods will not have a ban feature, but instead a kick feature. and Admins can ban for 6 hours, and can also kick.

Why are you using MOO? Use lacewing, it's newer and nicer, and then you can program the server yourself to handle banning and kicking. Then you will also need to work in your database where you store every user's stats, weapons, achievements, etc.

A lot of your work will be in making the server, but then you also have to have the cooresponding the client game.

This kind of game will require a lot of planning. You can either just have at your code like a maniac and fix problems as you go, or you can predict future problems and prevent them from happening. The difference is the former won't work in a massive project such as this.

This sounds like quite the project, have you made any other games yet?

I'm still new at this. but I've made alot of games that I've never bothered to release. I can't even get weapons or 360 movement yet...

And how do you actually implement it? For instance, if you block the IP, maybe they'll use a proxy, or a different PC? Or their IP may not be static.

Sometimes the best way is to make more powerful/dangerous privileges open to only long-time members with higher EXP. If someone abuses, their account is erased and if they do sign up again they have to go through the whole process of gathering EXP again before they can return to abusing. Most won't bother.

To learn how to use 360 degree movements check out this tutorial: http://www.clickteam.com/epicenter/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=205565

You probably want to start with a small online game, no databases or anything, first, just to test out online features. Definitely use Lacewing.

Then you'll have to test out creating your own server, make sure you have somewhere to run it, etc. You shouldn't use a public server for a large MMORPG, not only because you need to program things yourself to suit the game, but other people use it, and it's not fair to hog the public servers
