    Re: Slingshot game

    Can you explain more in depth what does not work? Do you have an mfa file that you can upload so we can see?

    Thanks

    Hey, i cant get any physics to work either. There are just no movement types that are suitable. If you have your heart set on it, you could do something with just "launching" something with a pinball movement trying to hit a target. But having boxes that slide, dont fall through floors, and don't bounce wildly are hard/impossible to make.

    Re: Slingshot game

    Custom movement is what you want to make. I believe I have some examples somewhere. In the meanwhile...

    I haven't played angry birds, but from pictures I think you launch birds from a cannon type thing, right?

    Make an object for the cannon. Under the object add an alterable value for the angle. Also go into the animation editor and change the action point to the tip. Set the Hotspot to the place you want it to turn.

    Also create an object called Bird with two alterable values called X_Pos and Y_Pos as well as two called X_Veloc and Y_Veloc.

    Next add the following events (Note: I wrote gravConst in the code. Make sure you replace it with whatever you want your gravity constant to be. Use a decimal point and a 0 though if it's not a float):

    Always:
    -Cannon->Set Angle to Atan2(Y("Cannon")-YMouse, XMouse-X("Cannon"))+0.0
    -Bird-> Set X_Pos to X_Pos+X_Veloc+0.0
    -Bird-> Set Y_Pos to Y_Pos+Y_Veloc+0.0
    -Bird-> Set Y_Veloc to Y_Veloc + gravConst
    -Bird-> Set Y to Y_Pos
    -Bird-> Set X to X_Pos

    Left Mouse Click:
    -Create Object ("Bird") at (0,0) from Cannon (Action Point)
    -Bird-> Set X_Veloc to (XMouse-X("Cannon"))*0.5
    -Bird-> Set Y_Veloc to (YMouse-Y("Cannon"))*0.5

    The movement of the bird will probably be a bit overstated, but you can change the 0.5 accordingly to scale it up or down based on your judgement. That's just for the bird though. You'll have to figure out the boxes and stuff on your own. Good luck.

    To expand on Watermelon's post, on Left Mouse click you should use
    -Create Object ("Bird") at (0,0) from Cannon (Action Point)
    -Bird-> Set X_Veloc to speed*cos(angle("Cannon"))
    -Bird-> Set Y_Veloc to speed*sin(angle("Cannon"))

    Ok, I think I agree with you there. I felt that one could circumvent trignometric functions by using actual relative position.
    Thinking about it, I like your method better. I wrote this at the middle of the night, so I wasn't at my full thinking capacity.
