Re: [Request] MMF2 Create Object From Expression

I was thinking of IDs like a index value basically, so if it was 150 then the 150th object created or 149th if you start from 0 rather than 1. You can have names also i guess but if you are working with many objects/actives using names that could get confusing not to mention time consuming naming things then writing the names to select things so a index system just seems better in my opinion.

Rather than just a workaround for something that should be default in the main MMF2 editor this could be a very powerful object. With indexes that would be the most simple method i am guessing but where i say ID you could use a name, fixed value or index, it just seemed much easier to write it that way.

Re: [Request] MMF2 Create Object From Expression

Most of your "ID" suggestions can be handled by combining an existing condition/expression/action with the Select Object's Select By Index condition.
    e.g.:
Mouse is over "Active" with ID 4:
    becomes:
Select object: Select "Active" at index 4:
    +Mouse is over "Active":
(it has to be that way round, otherwise it's interpreted as "the 4th object out of the ones the mouse is over", instead of "the mouse is over the 4th object")

    Hey Dynasoft,

Any intention of converting the Select object to Flash?

Re: [Request] MMF2 Create Object From Expression

People keep asking that, and the answer remains that:
    I don't know actionscript
I don't have much free time
The source is available if anyone else wants to do it
Jamie's new sdk apparently has an awesome object list manipulation system in it, but only the C++ version. If that was ported, it would become a lot less effort to port the Select Object...

Dynasoft: I will try to have the object selection framework ported soon :-)

My easing object relies on the framework as well so i kinda have to port it for myself as well :-)

Re: [Request] MMF2 Create Object From Expression

I have posted a small update with code shamelessly stolen from MattEsch:
    - The ability to create backdrop objects by name.

Note: It now only shows up for people who have build 252 (currently only people who are helping CT in some way)

Note2: It still crashes in Unicode version. I can only fix this for unicode version once it gets updated to 252.

Have you not officially released Created By Name object yet?

Re: [Request] MMF2 Create Object From Expression

It is released on page 1 of this thread but it will only work in build 252 which a lot of people won't have yet.

With extra options like some of the ideas i suggested before this would be great as a new object also.

I am hoping the main Create Object From Expression bit will be built in to MMF as standard though.
