    Streaming audio through lacewing?

    Is it possible to stream audio through a MMF2 Developer application using lacewing? Just wondering.

    Re: Streaming audio through lacewing?

    I have done audio before, but I am not sure if streaming would be possible. I would assume so.

    I believe it is possible, but I don't recommend it as it would be troublesome as you'd have to send sound files piece by piece I think.

    Re: Streaming audio through lacewing?

    Audio files are sequences of bits,
    Lacewing allows transmission and receival of bits.

    Use the binary object to load the audio-file to be sent.
    Once the audio file has been loaded, and the network connection is ready...

    send the bytes of the file thru lacewing; this can be done in a number of ways.

    Perhaps by sending 1024 of the bytes in the file, as a string, and then moving onto the next 1024, untill the file is sent.

    On the receiving end;

    Also have a binary object at hand, and on receiving a portion of the file to be transferred, write those bytes into the binary object, saving the file once the transfer is complete.

    I hope that wasn't too abridged, good luck

    SEELE, but what's the point of streaming audio if you're gonna save it as file? I'm pretty sure this guy wants something like Skype - in which case there's probably not much hope for this. I can't think of a way to output raw audio data in MMF. It would require *some* processing too..

    Re: Streaming audio through lacewing?

    Using a file isn't really streaming... ideally, you'll have Lacewing retrieve from memory (or maybe move the memory with the Memory Object) and then send it directly. Then you'll need the receive to convert it to a suitable playable format and play from memory.
    I attempted this with the Microphone object some time back, but the object is a bit buggy and uses a weird format which would need converting to playable sound... and there was nothing to play from memory anyway. Sound Player can probably do that, but you'd still need conversion, and LeDev/Aquadasoft have abandoned the Microphone object.

    Seele, I was thinking more about microphone stuff, but I might try that (just to test my abilities). SortaCore, I'll look into that and see what I can do. It sounds possible
