    The AVI object

So, I am trying to use the avi object to show a short movie in my application. When the application runs it says
The device driver is not ready
    and then says
    There is no display window.
    How can I fix this?

Use DirectShow to play your file instead.

DirectShow also gets my vote. Remember, you first Load the movie file into it and then you Play it. That should work.

If not, does the movie play in Windows Media Player outside of MMF? If not, that's the problem. You're probably missing a codec to play the movie. If it does play in Media Player but not in MMF... Umm... I would recommend (and I say this to everyone), convert your movie to WMV format. Windows Movie Maker will do this for you and you'll have your movie in a very compact file size with no codec issues when distributing the application to other computers.
