    is anyone else having problem where if mp3 is playing, frame rate drops on xbox to about 1fps

    this has happened in all my tests, i cannot use mp3 without it grinding to a stop

    There is nothing I can do about that. This means that the gameloop takes nearly as much time as the machine fps. Adding mp3 makes it cross the threashold.
    Have you tried reducing the sampling rate of the mp3?

    Sorry for getting an old tread back up, but I cant seem to get music playing working in an XNA project...
    Everytime I try it, it's all greyed out. Only when I use the "Standalone application" I can use music over again. Am I doing something terrible wrong? o_O

    XNA runtime doesn't support MIDI, but MP3's. To play an MP3 you have to use the "Play sample" action, and not the "Play music" action.
