Looking for free sound and graphics programs.

I'm looking for free, quality programs that I can use to make music and graphics in my game. If anyone knows some good, safe programs that would be very helpful. Thank you!

I'm pretty bad at making both music and graphics, so other people will better be able to provide exactly what you're looking for. But I can start you off.

For music, I recommend Modplug Tracker. It's free, and probably one of the most dynamic free ones you can find. It creates module music files (the files end with .mod, .it, .xm, and .s3m) which you can play directly with MMF. It can also export OGG sound files (also playable with MMF). It can be very difficult to get started with, but once you've learning it you can make pretty much anything. Look online for tutorials, and also check out modarchive.org for examples.

As for graphics, I recommend Inkscape and GIMP. Inkscape is for designing vector graphics, which can be flawlessly scaled to any size. This may not be ideal for game graphics, but is great for rough drawings and also logos. GIMP is basically the free version of Photoshop, but less powerful and a bit worse interface. It should suit all needs you may have though.
