    level design and values

I'm still learning something new about mmf every day, so I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction on how to go about making something like this:

I got 10 pictures of lightbulbs, each whith their own on and off switch. Depending on the level, I'd like some lightbulbs to be allready on.
    Like:
    -If Level = 1 : set Lights to "0010000001"
So the third and the last lightbulb are on, and the rest is switched off.
I probably will have to have something like:
-If the first number is 0 : set bulb1 to off
    -...
But how do I get 'If the first number is 0' ?

I'd like to achieve something similar to the above, so it would be easy to add the levels and not have to put in an expression for every lightbuld on each level.
If there are some examples out there, or someone could help me with this, I'd appreciate it.

mid("0010000001",2,1) = 1; will give you 1 if the number in the third position =1
