    Registration Question

    Hi There,
I am new to this forum so thanks for your patience with this question.
After trying the demo, I am definitely ready to buy MMF2.
When purchasing, does it require Online Registration or is it easy to authorize/register Offline?

I have a computer that we use for internet, but my production studio machine always stays Offline/No Internet Connection.
I couldn't find anything in the FAQ's about whether this would be a problem or not.

    Thanks.

My workstation is also offline (until registering something that needs it). better that way IMHO..

Anyway, MMF2 hasn't given me any quip while being offline while installing and inputting the license.

The new version of MMF2 requires an online connection (unless you order a CD version from the UK or European shop, we still have CDs without online activation, but the latest update patches now require a connection anyway, as well as the SWF/iOS exporters).

However there is a manual registration mode in the installer, i.e. the installer displays an URL, you copy/paste this url in a browser on a connected machine and then it gives you a code that you copy/paste to the installer. So you need a connected machine, but it can be different from the machine you install the product to.

Ahh, thanks Yves. I guess I'm still using the older CD. That explains that.

    Sorry for the misinformation!

    Ok, good! :-)
I was hoping it might work that way.
    Looking forward! :-)
Now, just have to get my head around the alterables and learn to make my enemies rotate/spin when moving along spline path :-)

    Hello,

I know that it's an old thread, though I'd very appreciate if someone could assist on this topic anyway.

Which build of Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer can be activated online with the provided product key and doesn't need online activation?
I recently purchased MMF2 Developer (CD version) off eBay to use in my retro machine running Win98SE/WinXP, but when it arrived I found that it requires online registration in order to be activated - just like my Fusion 2.5 Developer. My intention was to install MMF2 on my retro machine, instead of installing my Fusion 2.5 on it and "burning" another registration count from the number of times that I can activate Fusion 2.5 online, before reaching support to reset this counter.

I never liked the idea of purchasing a retail software that needs to be activated online. This may be good from the developers' point of view in order to prevent piracy of the software which I understand completely, yet this makes us buyers dependent on internet access in order to use the products that we rightfully bought. Of course, internet access is mostly available everywhere nowadays. But if Clickteam's registration server goes down and we buyers need to activate our software just then, we wouldn't be able to doing so. And sure, on an apocalypse scenario where the entire internet shuts down - activating a software would probably be the last thing we'll think about. But let's be serious for a moment - online activation makes things more cumbersome and probably most users would appreciate if they could get a permanent key for offline registration for the products they bought, and not something that changes every time that you reinstall your system. I do like the idea of registering the product keys in the forum, so everyone could see what you bought and use by the badges added under your avatar, but in my opinion activation should be something that the buyer could do offline without being tied to the internet.

I'm a collector of old PC games (and also of software) that I really like, and I own retail editions of the previous versions of the engine from the very early days of Klik & Play, The Games Factory and Click & Create. All of which can be installed only with the provided product key - no online registration/activation is required. I only missed Multimedia Fusion 2 (Standard or Developer), and by reading on this thread that the CD version of MMF2 Developer doesn't need online activation (unless you upgrade to the latest update patch), it made me want to find and buy a copy of it online, which I gladly found off eBay. Though this one requires online activation as well as mentioned above.

Is there perhaps an archive of the full installer of each and every build of MMF2? Clickteam site seems to have only the update patch and not the full installer. Maybe the build R251 that I have in the CD version is newer than the one @Yves has mentioned? Which stock build is it you're using @geothefaust ? Would it be possible that you'd check by uninstalling and reinstalling it without any update patches?

    Thanks!
