    INI storage limits?

Just wondering, does a INI file has any kind of limit as to how much items a group can hold?

and one more question, can mmf still read the file if I rename the INI to anything else? instead of level1.ini i rename it to level1.lv, will it still read?

edit: well, it will read... just tried it now. Still wondering about limits though.

    Re: INI storage limits?

The only limits would be in the actual extensions themselves (i.e. Ini or Ini++). Because INIs are just text files, they can hold as much data as the file can hold (4GB I believe). You'd have to ask Clickteam or Jax about the limits of their extensions.

I'm going with Jaffob on this one... I doubt you're going to really hit a limit, even under pretty heavy load.

Also, yes, you can change the file name to whatever you want.

    Re: INI storage limits?

Actually, in Win9X think ini files have an limit of 64K when you worked with ini files through the Windows API. At least this search suggest that.

If the Ini object modifies ini files through the Windows API, then Win9X users may have a problem (I don't know if it does though). It's definitely no problem in Ini++ since it parses ini files on its own.

    Re: INI storage limits?

The standard INI object has lots of limits, as Nifflas mentions. I believe I list them in the INI++ documentation somewhere.

INI++ imposes no limits of its own. All limits will be those of 32-bit integers and the Windows limits to file-systems.
