Simple level editor with saving and loading

This is a level editor example I've put together. Features:

    - select from several different tiles to place
    - paint tiles by holding down the mouse button
    - delete tiles
    - save level using a custom extension name
    - load level
    - show/hide grid
    - comes with a sample level

Commented and organized for easy reading. Hope this helps someone.

    Extensions used:
    Window Control
    File
    Ini++
    Attached files Attached files

Been searching for a decent level editor for a lonnnnng time now. Came on here and watched the other thread and finally someone made one.

I hope you develop this further. And on behalf of myself and all of those who don't speak.

    Thanks a bunch!

Re: Simple level editor with saving and loading

Konidias, I have a question if I may. Where, in the frame, are the sprites located? (such as the Brown Rock). The reason I ask is if I wanted to modify your example with my sprites.

    Thanks

Nivram they do not exist in the frame because they have events that create them.

To edit them you can always double-click them in the application tree view...
Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

Thanks LB. How did they get in the tree to begin with? The sprites would have to have been made before the creation events. I'm not a magician that can create sprites from nothing and put them into the tree.

Is it not true that sprites have to be made in order for creation events to work?

You can put an object in the frame editor and then if you make an event that creates the object, you can remove it from the editor and it will remain in the game since the game is still using it.

But just know that if you delete the creation event, the object will delete with it. It's only being held in the game because it's being created in that event.

No problem! Glad someone is getting use out of it.

How would you want me to develop it further? Is there a feature in particular that you'd like to see?

Re: Simple level editor with saving and loading

Thanks Konidias, I knew the information you provided, but didn't know that was the way you did the sprites. I think I will just drag all the sprites back into the frame and go from there. This is a good editor, so ok to post your editor on my site?

    Thanks
