There is also a French forum

From reading an article about how Minecraft's water flow system works, it flows out from the source block to the nearest and lowest elevation, up to 7 blocks away from the source block. When it reaches a lower elevation and falls, this 7-block distance is reset to flow 7 blocks from the block at the bottom of the fall.

I could make an example if you like

Sorry, I am working on the example now, I am just having trouble with a crash with an object and I was trying to isolate it for the author to look at. I am still working on it

    Re: 2D Water simulation

I haven't been able to produce the example, sorry. I seem to have incredibly bad luck, because all of the objects and techniques I tried would crash. I'm still trying to work on it but I don't think I will have it done in time for you - sorry
