Saving Local Flash Data Using .ini

I'm using the .ini extension to save data from a .swf buth although I using the default path (\AppData\Roaming\) when I run my app no .ini file is created in that location.
I tried the same thing with a fixed path name and this worked correctly.(the .ini file was created on my desktop).

Any idea why this might be happening? (I'm using Windows 7)
    Cheers

Re: Saving Local Flash Data Using .ini

Well it looks like I wasnt setting the current file with an extension (ie myFile.txt instead of myFile)

However, now I am trying the same thing with the .swf files online and my local file never gets created. My Flash settings are set to allow applications to save data. Any ideas?

Re: Saving Local Flash Data Using .ini

I have since tried to switch to using the flash SaveAndLoadText extension but that seems even worse. Even the example file provided doesn't even work and there is no help file, which makes it all pretty useless. Not sure what else I can do to save local data from Flash??

Have you tried the INI without putting in the path?

    This works

Based off this old example file:
(you need to remove the file path and the vitalize stuff for it to work in Flash)

Re: Saving Local Flash Data Using .ini

The zip contains a .cca file. Any idea I open that with?
Also, do you know where the example file saves the data locally? I couldn't find any file in Users/AppData/roaming/MMF2Applications...

You can open the .cca file with MMF2.

It gets saved as a cookie. The path depends on a lot of things and is sometimes in wildly different places, so you'll have to do some slight searching with the windows search function
Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

Re: Saving Local Flash Data Using .ini

Hmm, well the locally run version gets saved in the AppData folder every time, but when I run the online version, I do a search on my drive for the same filename elsewhere but nothing exists on my PC? Does the file get re-named or is it somehow hidden from the search?

Edit: I just tried the example again and I noticed how when I run it directly from mmf2 an info.ini is created fine, however, when I run the online link you sent I am unable to find the info.ini (cookie) that flash creates on my PC.

My major problem is that I need a different flash application to find the cookie so I need to know where it is.

Re: Saving Local Flash Data Using .ini

I found where it is. The cookie is renamed to a .sol file and stored in AppData/Macromedia/Flash Player/...etc

So now I just need to know how to get a different app to point at this same file?
