Text Typing + Sound Effect needs work

Okay here's the text typing code I have + the typing sound.
As you can see, the sound needs some work.

Right now, it constantly plays the sound, even at some of the lines where the sound effect is NOT necessary. I want the sound effect for only the letters and spacing only. I do NOT need it for line breaks or tabs.

I'd like to leave the paragraph as it is, just fix the sound so it does not play at line breaks or tabs (while not present here, though I may use tabbing later).

I had the hardest time finding the event that plays the sound - then I realized that Text Blitter object had a behavior.

I fixed it by making sure it doesn't play the sound if it is a new line. Remember a new line is two characters, a Carriage Return character and a New Line character (\r\n).

Awesome, thanks! Yea that's much better, now the sound does not play on line breaks.

Yea, that was probably my fault there. I probably should have said, or mentioned that the text typing was coded in the object. X_X

BTW, can you tell me the difference between
    Mid$(string$( "Text" ), Type( "Text Blitter" ), Len(NewLine$))
    and
    Mid$(string$( "Text" ), Type( "Text Blitter" )-1, Len(NewLine$))

They both say the same thing, except the -1 there. Is that some sort of identification point? I'm just curious why you would need two of the same conditions if the only difference between the two is the -1.

Re: Text Typing + Sound Effect needs work

A new line in Windows consists of a Carriage Return (\r) and a New Line (\n) - that's two characters. So basically your text would look like this:
This is line 1[font:Courier New]\r\n[/font]This is line 2
Checking it on the current letters matches for \r\n but not for \nT, so you also have to check the previous letters, hence the -1.

    There's something wrong with it.
Slow the typing effect to something very slow. If you notice carefully, it still plays the typing sound on spaces, but then skips the first letter of the next word after the space.

EDIT: Okay I've found the problem to that. You used
    Mid$(string$( "Text" ), Type( "Text Blitter" )-1, 1) <> " "

You just need to change your condition to
    Mid$(string$( "Text" ), Type( "Text Blitter" ), 1) <> " "

that seemed to fix the error there. Unless you have a reason to use -1, 1 in the condition instead of just 1.
