A silly question. How do install a new extension?

    Re: Installing Extensions

if its an extension pack it should install if you run it automatically. If its a single extension, you need to find the .mfx file in whatever folder it came in and copy that to to your multimedia fusion 2 folder in program files. there should be a folder called extensions in the mmf2 folder, put it in there.

I would recommend using ExtensionView, it will download and install (or prompt you to run an installer if one is downloaded). It makes the process pretty simple.

That is for sure. This evening I just got through using it to install over 30 extensions and updates. That extension view is one good program.

    Re: Installing Extensions

I have tried Extension View but after installing the URL Encoder to use in an .swf project the object is not available in the object list to insert in the project.

I checked Extension View after installing it and it says that it has been installed.

I can change the project to a stand alone application and the URL encoder object is available to be inserted into the project but I cannot insert it into an .swf project.

I am trying follow do the online high score tutorial.

    Re: Installing Extensions

According to ExtensionView, URL Encoder is not compatible with the Flash runtime. Unless you've installed some separate ported version of it, it will not show up in the object list when the Flash build option is selected.

Has the URL Encoder been to SWF?

    Re: Installing Extensions

The Easy Online Scores Tutorial states in Section 1 "3 – URL Encoder: Used to make our uploaded data safe and also allows us to create an MD5 security hash to help protect our data from hackers. This extension works in an EXE. Do not use it for Flash or Java."

I did not notice this before. I guess this means to use it in a flash project with this type of Online High Scores I do not need the URL Encoder.

    Is this correct?

    Re: Installing Extensions

No, you still need to encode your URLs, but I believe the Get object has an expression to encode them for you...
