    Question Cypher object help required!

Hello. I hope someone can help me. In the Cypher object's setup dialogue it has a few options. What do the Starting byte and number of bytes to read edit box's do?

AFAIR Cypher is no longer supported and it was replaced by AES (Fusion).

    Fano, shush, Cypher still works.
The starting byte is the position in the file to read the key from. That way, you can have a 30kb file, and read the key from 1kb into the file, and read say 512 (0.5kb) number of bytes. That way the encryption key isn't built into an exe or a file you include with your exe (as you could use any position and read any number of bytes).

You're implying that because a newer alternative works, the other alternative should not be used, even though it works as well. I do recommend AES though, it's a proven protection cryptography method.

AFAIR it was Jamie (who is CT employee) who posted while back that Cypher is obsolete and we shouldn't use it.
