    multi touch

i want it so if i hold down my finger on one active object, the character walks, and at the same time, be able to press a different active object to make the character jump. i need to be able to move and jump at the same time. is this possible? if so, please tell me how.

Did you check out the multi-touch example in the examples section? That helped clarify how it worked. I didn't use that exact example, but used the concepts from it to build something from scratch.

go here and download the file. then you can probably take the 2nd active touch object when its overlapping your jump object and set your character to jump and only run that event once while the jump in in progress.

My method (which I believe inspired that example):

    1. Create an active object. Name it 'touch marker'.
    2. Duplicate (not clone) it 2 or 3 times (depending how many touches you want).
    3. Start of Frame: Spread Value 0 in Alterable Value A (touch marker).
    4. Always: Set 'touch marker's position to somewhere just outside of the frame.
    5. Multitouch Object - Touch number (Alterable Value A (touch marker)) is active: Set 'touch marker' position to Xtouch (Alterable Value A (touch marker), Ytouch (Alterable Value A (touch marker).
    6. Check for overlap with touch marker to determine if an object has been touched.

Distant J, i will try your method.
The previous suggested method (mfa example) did not work well for me. Kept missing touches, kind of had to "drag" to ensure a touch, if that makes sense.

Yeah, I believe the example used the 'a touch has moved' function instead of 'a touch is active'. Somebody further down in the thread updated it though.
