    Exclamation erroneous alterable string?

    Hello,
My game tester is reporting that in his copy of my game, he is getting the wrong output of an alterable string.
He is using windows 7 while I am using windows vista.

I have code that sets my alterable string to this value upon pressing enter:

    Edittext$("EditBox_file")+"\"

But when he types something (example "ogre") into the edit box and presses enter, the alterable string returns the string

    ogre.txt

It works fine in windows vista. So is there something about windows 7 I am unaware of with using the \ ascii character? What can I do to get around this problem?
I read that the escape character is ^ but I don't want to have a carat when the game is run in windows vista or xp.

That's... very weird - is there nothing in the game that could cause that string to be used as the name of a file at all, just adding a backslash on to it?

You could upload it (or an example file that tries to do the same thing) and see if people here have the same problem.

I have uploaded the source : password is cats : http://www.mediafire.com/download.ph...x63oepfrwscThe
The copy my tester was running was a built executable from tgf 253, with the runtime uncompressed.

To see the effect, run the game, select "play" then select "music editor" and you will see a textbox labeled "foldername"type the desired word into the box and press enter. It's ment to say "word\"

To locate the event, enter frame 6 (music editor)
filter events via object "editbox_file" (there's a whole heap of edit boxes clustered together)
open the "save and load" event group, the event wil be in view.
scroll left to find the string object command.
if you filter the events for the string in question, you'll see there are only 2 commands.

The problem can be worked around by making the user manually type the backslash, but I suppose there might be similar problems when performing text alterations in windows 7.
