Loading a file from a network drive

I can do this by naming the drivename (e.g. R:\ ) however I want to make it load a file from a network drive using the IP address of the drive. (e.g. 10.5.9.71)

In the expression editor I used the line "\\10.5.9.71\data.csv"

Further information: The file is a CSV file and loading into MagicDeque object.

I want to run my app on several networked machines but all retrieve information from the one location of the CSV file which gets updated regularly.

I want to use the IP address as opposed the drive name because some people have mapped the drive to a different letter (e.g. J:\ ) so the app cannot load the CSV file.

Is there a way around this?

    Thanks

    Rob

I wonder if you could use the GET object to get the contents of the file from an IP address.

just given that a go - the GET object will fetch a file if its on a webserver with web address but I tried to pick up a file from a network drive. It does'nt seem to understand an IP address - this is very annoying! I only want to pick up a file on a network!

I've got it figured. Its my error - the path name was incorrect.

In case other folk have problems this is how you correctly name a path:

    \\<IP Address>\<Share Name>\<Directory Name>\<File Name>

I had missed out the share name - doh!

    thanks
