How many "sound channels" work at once for IOS devices

    Hi all,

I'm using sound channels to control volume of specific sound effects.
Anyone know how many channels can actually be played at once on an ipod touch 4 or any IOS device for that matter?

    thanks.

I think the same 32 channels that handles the Windows version, I have not tried them all, but if I used, channels 5,4,3,2,1,15, 31.

Anyway, how many simultaneous confirmation would not hurt!

I remember some devs had issues to run 5 channels at the same time - not MMF ones though.

It turns out my issue seems specific to IOS devices. I was trying to play the same sample (each time on a seperate channel!) 3 times in quick sucession. It works fine on PCor Flash, But the IOS devices skipped the middle play. I think The IOS device doesnt like playing the same sample twice at the same time, even if it is amlost finished playing the first time.

All I did was create a clone of the sound fine with a different name, then replace the middle sound with that new clone sample and now it works fine!

Maybe a sample needs to be completed until we can play it again? That would explain why your middle sample is left out. There is some kind of bug in the sound system. Try pausing/resuming all sounds while a sample is playing. After resuming, the interrupted sample is not continued. Once a sample is played (it may be a different one) the formerly interrupted sample is being played instead and it starts right from the beginning.
