Unhappy Can't install Additional Graphics Libraries with Demo

I've installed the demo and run through the tutorial. Everything is cool (and so far, this software is 800 kinds of awesome).

However, if I buy it, I'm chiefly going to be buying it because of my 9-year-old (which is the age I started to program on a Trash-80 -- man, I feel old). She really wants to program games, and got especially excited when I showed her MMF2.

Anyway, since I fully expect her to be done with the tutorial in a couple of hours and wanting to start creating her own stuff (but also knowing the fickle nature of kids, and not wanting to spend $110 on software she may not use), I downloaded the Additional Graphics libs from here so she would have some variety in the sprites: www.clickteam.com<slash>website<slash>usa<slash>re sources

Remember, I want her to start creating games immediately (just focusing on how to create them, rather than tedious sprite-building). She can -- and almost definitely will -- worry about more customization later. For now, the more that comes "out of the box", the better.

The problem is, I can't seem to install them. I get to the Directory Selection screen, the field is empty, and it won't let me click the path button (of course, clicking "continue" on an empty path results in "Invalid Directory")

This happens with all of the Graphics Libs (except for the ZIP one, of course).

What's funnier is that all of the sound libs, which seem to use the same installer, work fine. They still show the blank path, but I can click the path button.

Of course, I've tried all of the normal suspects (run as admin, XP compatibility mode, etc) with no fix.

Has anyone seen this problem? If so, how did you fix it (like installing from the CLI with a path parameter)? If not, is there a ZIP file somewhere so I can just unzip the files (rather than use the installer)?

Keep in mind that I'm not asking for any of the commercial files -- just ones from this page that specifically says you can use them with the demo.

    Thanks!

I don't think you can install additional libraries with the demo.

Actually you can, in this case. The page it wouldn't let me link specifically says you can, and I was able to install the sound libraries just fine.

Or should I say "you should be able to" based on information on the page which specifically says "In addition to the thousand of graphics included on the CD-ROMS here are some additional graphic libraries. These libraries will also work with the demo versions of the products."

You should be able to install the graphics too. If you did install them, they need to be put in "libs" folder and then the will show up when you open MMF.

Yeah, that's how the sound files worked (the location bar was empty, but I was able to click the path button and install, which I can't for any of the graphics files). Unfortunately, it looks like nobody else has seen this issue so far.

I've even tried getting creative and unzipping the installer (since many installers are simply wrapped zip files). No luck there, either.

The final thing I think I'll try is installing the demo to the "official" path (as though I was using the full version of MMF2) and see if the Graphics Lib Installer picks it up.

Does anyone know the "real" path for the software? (I assume something like "\Program Files (x86)\Multimedia Factory 2", but I'm totally guessing)

Assuming that doesn't work (which I doubt it will) -- does Clickteam support check this forum, or should I check with them directly?

Thanks. No dice on any of it. I even tried running it on Wine in Ubuntu (it was worth a shot).

In any event, I bought it. Worst case, she's not interested -- I still have a cool toy that I can make games with if I get so inclined (I'm a network software programmer by day, so doing much programming stuff after work isn't really something I look forward to -- I'm either doing are or writing at that point. But maybe I'll get the old game design itch back).

You should register your serial number with the forum, so you'll show up as a registered user and have access to the open topic and owner's lounge forums (with betas :3).

On topic though, the \Program Files (x86)\Multimedia Fusion 2\Libs\Objects folder is where you want to put your graphics libraries. They will show up in the Library Toolbar in MMF2.

    A followup:

As I said, I purchased the software, and the libraries installed fine. I'm assuming it's getting the default path from the registry. Thankfully, it's no longer an issue for me.
