    creating objects without overlap

    I'm using this method to create objects at random positions that don't overlap anything:

    +on loop
    --> set (placer) to random position

    +on loop
    +(placer) does not overlap (anything)
    --> create (object) at 0,0 from (placer)
    --> create (counterbar) at 0,-10 from object
    --> set CounterFixed(object) to Fixed(counterbar)

    HOWEVER using this the value "CounterFixed(object)" on every object sets itself to the fixed value of only one counter.

    Everything works perfectly without the condition in bold. Why would testing for no overlap cause this to happen?

    Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for the help!

    I would assume that this condition mess up the object selection somehow. Try to make another on loop event before that sets a counter or variable to 1 if Placer is overlapping something, and to 0 if it is not. Then in the event you have, replace +(placer) does not overlap (anything)with counter = 0.

    Thanks Popcorn I should have thought of that! this works and I also played around and came up with another solution, putting (select object) re-select all after the overlap condition.

    Good you got it to work. Here's another method that I think should be quite effective.

    Edit: Seems my example didn't work 100%.. so never mind it =)

    I also had:

    +on loop
    --> set (placer) to random position

    +on loop
    +placer is overlapping object
    --> set loopindex to loopindex -1

    +on loop
    +(placer) does not overlap (anything)
    --> do create stuff
