    iOS Resolution

    Hi all,

I know this is a newb question, but I've done a search and not turned up anything.

I know the resolutions for iPad and iPhone - but which should I develop my game in if I want to hit both? Will using the higher res and then exporting for iPhone in a lower res mean the iPhone version is larger than it needs to be?

    Thanks a lot,

    Tom

if you want to hit both properly you should just make 2 different versions, perhaps make your game 1024x768 then just crop it a bit for the 960x640 version.

I have one question as well, making a game 720x480 works well, but does anyone know if apple allows it on the appstore?

Or does the exporter it fit to 1024x768? I'm Not sure about this...

I'll be able to tell you soon! I don't see why they wouldn't.

It's fine because it upscales to fit the device, just try to keep it at the iPhone's aspect ratio as they turn down iPhone apps with black borders (but they're fine on iPad). One thing to note is that sometimes stuff scaling from a different resolution can cause a couple of starting up glitches on iPads running iOS4, at least that was an issue in the past, unless it's been fixed for the latest build of the exporter. Most people have updated by now though.

Anyways, do a search, there are a tonne of topics about resolution where you can get all of the info you need on it
