I might attend but it depends from costs. What is price for staying overnight and food etc?

There is a full menu for the CB2 place here: http://www.cb2bistro.com/food_and_drink.html

The prices there are reasonable and the food is very nice, I've eaten there several times and attended a TigJam there once.

Accommodation wise, you could go with the Cambridge Youth Hostel (http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/cambridge). It and the train station are just a short 15 minute walk from CB2 so it's well located. You should ring to check prices but I believe they start around £20 for a bed or from £25 for a room.

Here is a route map: http://goo.gl/maps/t6GC0

Alternatively you could look for a B&B in the area - here are a couple:

http://www.cambridge-guesthouse-acco...uk/welcome.htm (better for a triple room sharing at £31.38 per person) and this includes a full English breakfast.

http://goo.gl/maps/AbRr1 (that's a link to Google maps centred on CB2 with surrounding "guest house" locations)
http://goo.gl/maps/EP4gD (that's a link to Google maps centred on CB2 with surrounding "B&B" locations - seemed to pick up a few the other one didn't)

So we bring our own laptops??
Can we use The Games Factory Newgrounds Editon??
Do we have time to install our "free copy" of Multimedia Fusion Standard if we don't use Newgrounds Edition??
I know this has already been asked but can we use extensions??
Do we get support from Clickteam staff??
Will it feel like a hurry/rush to make a game if you go??

I think for the UK it's important to have just one event the first time around at least. If another one were to happen, I think that Ripon would be a bit difficult to get to for a lot of people. Thirsk is quite a way, being the nearest railway link and I think Knaresborough/Harrogate for coach routes? In that area, I'd say somewhere like Leeds would be the best place to look. Again though, for the first one in the UK just the 1 location is the best way to go.

You can use whichever Clickteam product you like, I think there will be time to install it but I'll look and see whether there is a better way we can do that. Details the main theme of the competition will be announce on the day for now - we might wait until then to say whether extensions are allowed, I'll let you know either way

Yes, people need to bring their own laptop/computer - there will be plenty of power sockets available on the day, as well as wifi (and possibly a couple of ethernet sockets - I'll check on that one).

Simon - Just a few questions:

    1. So this is a 24-hour thing?
    2. What time does it start and finish? (Couldn't find this info anywhere, just the date!)
    3. Do participants have to be there at the start and end?
    4. Can people participate online or do they have to physically attend the event?

I live near Tenby in Wales, so will take around 5-6 hours to get to Cambridge. As I understand it, you only want the one event in UK, otherwise I'd try to organise something near me (although getting a little late for that now!)

    Thanks and good luck!

Hi, sorry for the lack of time information there...

The global event is 24 hours, individual jams are running for around 12 hours. The UK one will run from 10-10:30am, through to 10:30pm (unless everyone leaves early of course!)

People are free to come along for part of the event... you're not obliged to take part in the competition either, you can come and work on your own projects or just see what other people are up to, whatever takes your fancy

We may have some sort of online event, but this is not confirmed yet. I'd highly recommend coming if you can though, game jams are great fun and a fantastic opportunity to get to know people in the community.

Yes, just the one event for the UK this time around at least... The UK is sufficiently small enough that for such a new event it could end up with just a few people attending any given place if we have more than one jam here the first time around. For the second one, hopefully we can look at more locations. I'm not sure that Tenby is going to be a good location though, it is quite far into Wales and not the most direct place to reach on public transport etc. Swansea or Cardiff, possibly Pontypridd would be better located for more people to get to, which is the key with the locations here.

I hope you can make the Cambridge one anyway, let me know if you need any help with transport details or whatever getting there.

    Cheers
