Since no one has reported any further issues in the release candidate for Box2D Flash I've decided to release this version as is.
For those who don't know, Box2D is an extension by Werbad that allows you to create games with realistic physics. It can be downloaded here: http://www.clickteam.info/phizix/Fil...2D%201.0.4.zip (comes with 2 examples that should get you started)

While this is a public release it's not perfect - unfortunately porting this extension to Flash was quite difficult because of some major differences between the C++ and Flash versions of the library. These are:
  • Ray-casting generally works, but sometimes it seems to go through walls.
  • You can't modify edge chains once they're created.
  • Advanced body definition strings aren't supported.

This may sound discouraging but it's actually not so bad - check out the testbed if you aren't convinced: http://clickteam.info/looki/Stuff/Testbed.html
You can create many complex games without ever stumbling across these issues!

Hopefully, you'll be able to make some cool flash games with this. If you have any problems, please post them - also make sure to tell if it's a general Box2D problem or just a Flash problem!

One last important thing: Box2D requires Flash 10. To use the extension, you need to go to your application properties and change the Flash player version value from "9.0.124" to "10.0.0".
