Window size? Or "smart resize display to fill?"

Is the Window Size extension going to work in the next beta? I have an app with a window size of 800x800, my plan is to adjust the frame's content to fit whether the user is viewing Portrait or Landscape.

If the user is in Portrait mode, the app will switch its width to 480, and scrunch the app's content to fit better vertically. If the user is in Landscape mode, the app will adjust its height to 480 and stretch the content to fit horizontally.

I have this working perfectly, but only on a 480x800 screen without "resize display to fill window size" checked. I want it to work on more screen sizes, but if I check to allow the app to "Resize display to fill window size" this stops working, as it just squishes the entire 800x800 frame to fit the screen.

Maybe we can have an option in the Android Options to automatically change the Window Size when flipped vertically or horizontally? Right now, any app that allows the user to flip the screen will not display very well (unless we make multiple versions of all content for EVERY screen size).

Have you tried the "Keep screen ratio" option alongside "Resize display to fill window size"?

Yup, this is what happens with a 800x800 frame and 480x800 window:

    Properly displayed in Portrait:

Not resized how I want it:

And this happens with a 800x800 frame and 800x800 window:

    Neither resized properly:

    Screenshot_2012-08-28-15-25-46.png

The first image is displayed correctly, and in the second image, it should fill horizontally to 800px, and you should be able to see "TOP LEFT" and "TOP RIGHT" but not the "BOTTOM" texts.

So to make this app work, I would need it to automatically change the window size from 480x800 to 800x480 when the user switches from Portrait to Landscape. These new screen sizes would also need to squish/expand to other phone resolutions (I'm not too worried about a little "letterboxing" for this app).

My other option (please god no) would be to rotate everything 90 degrees when the user rotates his screen. This would not be fun, lol...

Oh, so you want part of the window to be cut off to keep the aspect ratio instead of adding borders. I think that's something Andos proposed for the iOS runtime, and it's certainly doable - I'll see what I can do for beta 34.

Sweet! Yeah, this would be extremely helpful, especially with Android since it has so many screen sizes. This way, users could create one version of their App that works on most screen sizes, AND can be rotated portrait-landscape.
