    Just checked on my phone, the application exits properly, set a breakpoint at game.Exit() and it is called.

    The back button issue was called out on my app, too, that regardless of any in-app button to end the application, the back button functionality has to work.

    provided the code I needed to add in VS2010 and the back button worked after that.

    protected override void Update(GameTime gameTime)
    {
    // Allows the game to exit
    if (GamePad.GetState(PlayerIndex.One).Buttons.Back ==
    ButtonState.Pressed)
    this.Exit();

    I can't get the xna back button behavior to work as expected. On my apps regardless of the behavior listed in the events the app exits instead of jumping to the menu. My apps failed certification because of this. Any ideas or hints how to manually correct in code?

    Windows Phone 7 XNA apps.

    Is the back button only capable of exiting the application? I can't make heads or tail of the code in Visual Studio, so no hacking there. I need the back button to exit the app from the main screen, but other screens to respect the return to the main menu. I can't figure out a way to correct this or workaround.

    I'm not sure if this is your issue, but could it be that when you press the back button on game screen, with having a jump to menu screen action in events, that same back button press is also detected on main menu, where you end the application? So basically it goes from game screen to menu screen and directly from there to exit.

    I had this type of problem and used a simple timer event as a workaround:

    XNA Object: Back key is pressed
    + Timer is greater than 00"-30
    --> End the application (or jump to frame)

    This ensures that two back button presses are needed, to first jump to menu screen, and then to exit the app.

    I tried the timer event, and I tried making the back button the second event like Dobermann suggested. No luck. Everything exits the app with, what looks like, an exception:

    A first chance exception of type 'System.Threading.ThreadAbortException' occurred in Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll
    The thread '<No Name>' (0xf4a0056) has exited with code 0 (0x0).
    The thread '<No Name>' (0xeaa0052) has exited with code 0 (0x0).
    The thread '<No Name>' (0xef7004e) has exited with code 0 (0x0).
    The program '[267124810] TaskHost.exe: Managed' has exited with code 0 (0x0).
