I need to make a simple active object shake for a few seconds in position as if in the middle of an earthquake, irregular left-right plus irregular rotation simultaneously. Can somebody help with a short, fast, cheap & elegant suggestion for the calc? Newbie and lost as...
How about the whole screen to shake including all your objects?
Group ALL actives that have to correspond to the shake, then create a disabled group that contains the 'shake' code, activate the group to handle the shake then close after completion of the effect. That would be your best way, plus by listing the objects to shake to a qualifier it's only one action and you can add/remove objects with ease.
Danny, can you post up an example of this. Would like to see it also.
Danny's plan sounds good if you want a lot of objects to shake.
For the actual shaking, I would always set position x of the group object to x(object)-2+random(5) & set position y of each group object to y(object)-2+random(5). I would create an example, but I'm not at a machine with MMF 2 right now.
Rotation is easier if you want to just use select direction (always) and choose from a few direction options that make sense.
Always may be too fast in either case, so you may want to choose .01 seconds or some other value.

Could be, but i'm working on a simple business app (simple programming but intensive on graphic design - corporate) in which 2 letters (2 active objetcs displaying a logo sitting in certain positions across the screen) must shake just for a few seconds in the splash screen.
