    Local Highscores

    Hi
Im trying to create local highscore tables for a Flash game.

The game has 4 Game Modes and 2 different Game Settings, A and B.

I want 2 seperate Highscore Tables for each Game Mode, one for Setting A and one for Setting B.
Each Highscore Table has a maximum of 10 entries.
Highscore entries consist of a NAME and a SCORE.
I would want to use a specific Font type for displaying NAME and SCORE.

    ...
    Im guessing my options are:
    - Use INI
    - Use Array
    - Use the Highscore Object

Im not sure which one to choose or which one is best.

    INI
    It has encryption right?
INI has GROUPS and ( GROUP ) ITEMS
Would i need 1 INI file for each Highscore Table?

    ARRAY
This would be the most understandable option from a programming perspective ( for me at least ).
    But Arrays arent encrypted...?

    HIGHSCORE OBJECT
This seems like the easiest and quickest method, but are there any drawbacks?

    ...
Pleace help me figure out the best solution for my given situation.

You have options to keep the display of the hiscore hidden, and do it your self.
If you do not like the name entry box, you can have your own and insert the hiscore in the list manually.
You can have multiple hiscore objects on the frame, you just have to set a different ini file name for each of them.

    Hey
Why don't you want online hiscores?

But for a semi-secure offline hiscore, i would use the array object, and add my own soft encryption.
f.ex for each scoreboard of 10 scores, on slot number 11, always have a number that is all the 20 scores combined, multiplied by a number f.ex 3, and then add any number to it, f.ex 123.
then before you display or add a new score, check if (slot11 - 123)/3 = the scores combined, if not, you know it's been tampered with, and can delete the scores.

I am also doing something similar for the ingame scores, since the global values etc are not encrypted and can be easily cracked.
So you should not store any value which are the same as something displayed on the screen, because then it's easy to search and modify the value.

Someone used this to post a version of one of my games with infinite lives: http://www.hackedarcadegames.com/search.php?q=boundling

You can easily make it very difficult to crack, by having a default value, f.ex 123 and add twice as much to the score whenever you add points, then when you display or compare the actual score, you use (score-123)/2.
