Install Creator Pro - basic tutorials?

I am a novice user of the Install Creator program, having just used the very basic (in wizard mode). I now need to do some things of a slightly more complex nature but cannot seem to find any tutorials.

My needs are simply these: to copy, create and delete a few folders from the end-users PC (and detect their install path I assume), but the copying and deleting are the most important. Some would need to be done before installation of the main body of files, others after.

I have written some .bat files which give command for this copying/deletion/folder creation to happen but do not know enough about either bat files or the Installer to know how to attach them to the install process or run them.

I cannot even find a reference to bat files in the help provided. Surely there must be a site with some tutorials covering such basics? I cannot find one though.

To run a .bat file, just copy it to the source directory (so that it's included in the installer and installed with the other files), and then select this file in the Files list (in the main interface of IC) and select one of the Run options in the View / Run tab (File options).

Unfortunately, you cannot run files before installation. You can run them only after all the files have been installed.

If you have Multimedia Fusion 2 then you might be able to pack the installer inside of the EXE, then do the deleting/copying and run the installer from the MMF2 application.

I suppose I could install the files to a temporary folder, then get the bat files to do the things I want them to and then have a bat file copy the temp folder to the "prepared" folder?

I find it quite amazing that there are no simple installers that can do basic things like this on the Net. I've been looking around for almost a year, even at pay-for ones, and they all seem not to have the features or, if they do, be way too complex with no clear tutorials.

I did find one that looked good, Vise something or other I think, but it just crashed my PC every time I tried to add the main folder for the source files (as it did my friend's when he tried).

Anyway, temporary folder idea a workable one?
