    Boat effect

How would i go about making a rocking effect like you would see in a game with a boat stage? i actually have a boat stage in mind and this would be an awesome thing to add.

"Rocking" something would likely be a matter of changing the angle smoothly up and down cyclically. You just have to make sure your Hot Spot is in the center of the object at the axis of rotation.

    Re: Boat effect

sorry for the confusion guys what i am after is making the actual ground itself move up and down, like being on the water, because i am making a stage (or getting ready to) where you are ON a boat. im thinking there should be a way to make the boat itself move up and down and use an active in place of a backdrop and have it move with the background itself, just didnt know if anyone knew of a way to make it happen.

Could you not simply do that with scrolling then?

They really need a rotate frame option for MMF if this is even possible. At any rate for future reference if you want to do this with a single active object, just set it's angle to a variable and add or subtract appropriately.

I don't see how rotation is involved here, so just using a sinewave on the scrolling should be fine, right?

That would make sense. I've never really played with sinewave at all, but i did read up a little about it. I wouldn't be making it extreme either, not like a seasick wave lol. i'll try messing around with that.
