    Ship Sway Effect MMF2?

Basically I have this ship interior stage that I am working on and I would like to have the stage subtly sway kinda up and down like it's moving on water. I was wondering can someone point me to the right direction so that I can figure out how to input this kinda code in my event editor or provide an example? Please be descriptive as possible so that I can learn! Thanks again for everyone's help on the forum!

    Example

You can use Sine and Cosine functions with a constantly incrementing value. Here is an example you can fine tune - it has a horribly drawn ship floating on water:

So I after looking at the example, (I am about to check it out now) theoretically I should be able to make a backdrop and set an alterable value to it and actually sway the entire background not just an object correct?

Background? Why would you want to move the background; to create a sense that the camera is moving? If so, you need to use an active, as backgrounds cannot have any events.

Exactly dude, I know it's kinda hard to explain. I am actually trying to move the level itself, so that it sways up and down like you are inside of a ship traveling on a stormy sea.

Or you can use the rotate pixel shader on a layer. (Take care to make sure you have Complex-softwares pixel shader pack)

Yes, for effects such as this rotation shaders are the way to go. I saw a game recently that took advantage of this, some sort of 2D Super Mario Galaxy - it ran pretty smoothly too, though I cannot remember who the user who made it was...

Where can I download the Cs_Rotate.fx extension from or do I even need it? The swaying of the floor in your example is kinda what I am looking for...
