    A Simple Object Selection Issue

    Hi, everyone.

I have a quick question about the "overlapping another object" collision condition- it seems that when it is triggered, it affects all objects of the specified type, not just the ones involved in an overlap. Is there an effective way to test for overlap and pick out only the overlapping objects to be affected?

I understand that the spread value function is often used to identify specific object instances, but I don't know how that can be implemented in my particular problem.

The overlapping-condition should indeed only affect the objects involved. You must be doing something else that makes the action effect all the objects. Maybe post a file or give us a clue on what you triy to do

What I'm trying to do is a little weird (Trying to simulate a Z-coordinate), so I made a little Demo of the core issue instead.

Basically, if the overlap command was non-generalized, the little diamonds would turn red as they leave the spikes individually. However, they change colors in groups, and spend a good amount of time in the wrong color for where they are. If you could take a look, I'd appreciate it very much.

You'll probably need to use fastloops or the foreach object. The problem here is that MMF isn't looking at every single object per tick and comparing overlaps. It can only pick one object per tick. With so many little objects to check, it's gonna take far too long to do it the way you're doing it. With a fastloop you'll get super precise results. I went ahead and edited your MFA to show you what I mean.

Just don't get too crazy with it and you should be okay.

Actually this doesn't require a fastloop.
