    Referencing file formats

    Hello,

    I'm trying to load different movie files from another frame by its file format. I've written;

    Frame 1. When button is clicked > Set global string A relative to edit box (edit box contains file path)

    On the next frame;

    Frame 2. If global string A = ".avi" > play avi object relative to global string A.

    I feel that the condition/frame 2 is not correct? Should be something like a "$.avi" or "#.avi" to ignore the actual filename? What is the correct expression in this situation?

    Please ask if you don't understand,

    Thanks

    You might need to retrieve the last 4 characters in the string and compare that to ".avi" using the "Right$" function.

    Here's a screenshot demonstrating it. The "Compare Two General Values" can be found under the Special Object (the computer icon).

    Right$("String",4) returns the 4 rightmost characters of "String", in this case since you're loading a file name, it will take the last 4 characters (the file extension!). Letting you compare it with the file extension you are after.
