    Question IOS and Binary save frame?

    I am still saving up for MMF2 Developer and the IOS export tool. I am creating the game currently with MMF2.

    I am using an INI to save the players position and score. That loaded fine after closing and re-opening. But I couldn't make the correct frame load.

    So I used a technique I found in a tutorial online. I added
    Save Frame position to Bin$(1), version1

    and when they hit load
    Load application position Bin$(1), version1

    That seems to work at this point if it were a PC game. But will it work if I export it as an IOS game?

    Thanks

    P.S. - You have no idea how long it's taken me to try to figure out this whole load/save thing for loading the person's score and frame (level) they were on... :P

    Ok, forget this post. I tried it again and it doesn't load properly and the counter (score) doubles up when it loads. So I'm back to figuring out how to save the level they were on with an ini. If anyone has a sample that shows that, without INI++, please let me know. Thanks.

    You can save the current frame's number in the Ini, by using the expression under Storyboard Controls > Current number of frame. Then when loading the Ini data, you simply jump to that frame number.

    Ok, I found that option when I go under the INI and go retrieve data from object, but how do I do it from the beginning. Meaning do I have to set up a group or item first, etc.? Do I have to set a value, etc.?

    This save / load stuff is still confusing to me, but it's essential to the game I am creating for IOS.

    Thank you very much for your help

    just an example:

    end of frame?
    group->save
    item->lives
    set value->player lives

    start of frame?
    group->save
    item->lives
    set player lives->value of 'item' (that is 'lives')

    something like that I guess...

    Hmm, I still can't get it to work. I'll keep trying to get it to save and load the frame the player is on.

    Thanks to everyone that helps

    Ok, I am working on a different project today, a totally different style game from the one with the INI stuff.

    I am using the Binary for this one.
    They hit save...
    Save Frame position to Bin$(1), version1

    and when they hit load...
    Load application position Bin$(1), version1

    This works perfect for this particular project. So I'll go back to my original question.

    Will that Bin coding above work when I export it to IOS?

    Thanks

    Well, I tried it with the application build type being IOS now and the "Save Frame Position" isn't visible to me as an option in the event editor, so I guess that answers my last question...
