    Question about INI saves - testing vs release of game

    Hi,

    I am nearly done with my new game. I have an INI save file. The only thing it saves is what the level the player was on when they quit.

    I am going to do extensive testing of the game before release. It has 40 levels at this point. My question is does the INI overwrite the last level save with the new one and not take up a lot of space or does it keep saving more and more info.?

    In my tests it will save at various levels, but at the end I plan to save it on the first level when the game is ready for release.

    Basically, do I need to change the name of the INI save file after all the testing? Or will it just have the first level save as it's info and that's it?

    It will rewrite the entries to save to unless you put them under different groups and such. I've used the INI object a lot in my days and I know this is how it works.

    As Corlen said, unless you specify a different filename/group/value/string relating to the INI then it will overwrite any previous values.

    OK, so basically I don't have to change the INI game save destination / name when I am ready to release. I will just have the last save in there, which will be level 1...
