Question Replacing color in active picture object

I'm using active picture object, which appears to be the quickest way to render images in my application. However I don't want to create too many images for the application so I was wondering if there is a way to load one image and, at runtime, replace a color or two inside the APO.

I can achieve what I want using active object but I want to use active picture because it loads quicker.

    Any ideas?

I created a tiny application to demonstrate the problem I am running into. If my application was not relying on exact color matching, I would not be asking for any help and the majority of this application would already be done.

When you test this program, please be sure to switch between "Standard" display mode and "Direct3D 9" display mode. This is the only way to show you what my problem is.
